Belonocnema kinseyi (+) Parasitoid (-) Quercus virginiana

When the #gall wasp Belonocnema kinseyi deposits an egg in its host plant, the southern live oak, Quercus virginiana, it leaves a scar. The immune response of the plant appears within hours. We can track each scar to find out if the #wasp or the #oak wins. Shared in TW by Scott P. Egan @scottpegan
