Novel antibiotics are urgently needed to treat the ever-increasing number of drug-resistant infections. Venoms constitute a treasure trove of novel potential medicines. Here, we converted a peptide derived from venom into potent antimicrobials capable of resolving otherwise lethal infections in mice
