Tetrahymena thermophila (+) Predation (-) Escherichia coli

Predation increases prey fitness via transgenerational priming. In an evolution experiment, Escherichia coli was cultivated with the predatory ciliate Tetrahymena thermophila. This study reveals that predation can prime E.coli to induce their defensive cluster formation across generations.
